I have an latex allergy-and built up this allergy from frequent exposure to latex gloves-I work in the healthcare industry. From latex balloons to gloves, I don't go near the things. So, if you did oral and you have a latex allergy; it is very possible to have an irritation in your throat. What I suggest is using Trojan Polyurethane condoms; they are effective with all STDs and are use for latex allergic persons. Perhaps you can go to your primary care physician and get him to check out your throat for treatment. Treatment could include a salt/water rinse for the irritation of your throat and some antihistamines. There really isn't no ';cure'; for an latex allergy; only prevention. There is an immediate or delayed response with latex allergies-was the sore throat noticed immediately, or did you have a delayed response after the oral? It is important to notice your symptoms-and also know the source of your allergies. Allergies are extremely serious; symptoms include asthma type reactions-such as sore throat, difficulty breathing-and in severe cases anyphalactic shock. Also of concern is contact dermatitis which can be treated with antihistamines and cortisone; but itching and rashes could also occur. Try going to a dermatologist or allergy specialist for further consultation.
