if your thumb nail does not work...perhaps a toe nail will work better

Krud Kutter in the paint isle at home depot works GREAT
q-tip and paint thinner or finger nail polish remover.
but really just peel it off.
A piece of rough old towelling and some dish soap. Rub hard.
Take them off and soak in HOT water. Then scrub with a toothbrush and comet or ajax.
