Concrete Stain: Is it possible to put latex concrete stain over acid stained concrete?
ok. This is not my specialty. however , Ive been a painting contractor for like 19 years:
You SHOULD be able to do this.
Recommended approach:
1) if you have the label of the acid stain, read it and see what it says. You wanna find out if a bonding primer is needed or some such thing.
2) If cannot: do you know the brand/manufacturer? Check with them.
3) if no dice on ay of the above: is the surface hard and slick and VERY sealed? IF yes, then probablly cannot go over it with a latex. If its somewhat poreous and rough then it should be okay.
Experimental route: go buy a quart or gallon (gallon is for sure enough to do any project under 500 sq ft.) and put a small sample. Let sample dry for manufacturers suggested time. Try scraping it off with a fingernail and some scraping tool - that test will tell you if its gonna stick or not.
- if its tough like hell to get off, thats great for you. If it peels easily (like a baloon skin) - then be happy you didnt do your whole floor.
The basic rule here is that you want the topcoat to be able to adhere to the substrate. If its like glass, then a latex product doesnt have anythng to grab to - and it will fail.
If its just a stain (with no clear coat atop it) youre chances are pretty good. If theres any kind of sealer atop it - well.... that sucks. Stain wont penetrate a sealer - thats the purpose of the sealer - to prevent stains....

A light sanding would assure a better bond with the new paint. It would probably peel after awhile otherwise. You just need to sand a little bit with a fine sandpaper, just to rough up the smooth surface.

I would ask about that at a costume store but be really careful. Some people are highly allergic to latex. Before you glue this mask to your face, maybe you should hold it on your arm for a couple of hours with rubber bands to see if you have a reaction. Good luck!! : )

Check with a local paint store, such as Sherwin Williams, Valspar, Glass %26amp; Paint, etc. It is basically like mixing paint, they use a base caulking and mix and inject colorant to match your choice. Do the Gerber Size 2 (Large) Latex Nipples Exist Anymore?

Yes, I am actually a stage manager at some musical theatres and in the past I have actually had to make latex masks and or prosthetics for some of our productions. First off, you need to life cast the persons face. Life casting means to take a mold of there face. You have to wait some time for the mold to actually set but it is totally worth it. Also at this time, always have someone nearby just in case of a panic attack or something from the person being casted. These molds sometimes cause people to think that they cant breathe underneath. Next, you can remove the mask and let it sit for some time until it sets completely. Next, if you want to add any other facial attributes such as a bigger nose or a wart; you can use clay to add that on to the hardened mold. Finally you must pour a special liquid latex onto the mold for it to form the exact shape. This also takes quite sometime. After the latex hardens, you can remove the latex mask or prosthetic and you have your own halloween mask. Also, if you use foam latex at the liquid to set your mold, the mask or prosthetic will only hold together for a few days of wearing. But if you use gelatin to set your mold, it will be more durable for quite sometime. In addition, both gelatin and foam latix are quite expensive, and then you will have to buy paint and other mask making products to paint the foam latex mask. What's the best paint to use when painting a mural on an inside wall (latex, acrylic, other)?
I would strongly recommend that you use Latex. Oil and the thicker acrylic can peel off as the weather changes but Latex is designed to be more elastic. (I also worked in a paint manufacturing plant as a batch maker)
The most important thing, really, is the preparation of the surface. You must make sure that it is free of dust and/or microscopic life (fungus, algae, etc) which you can easily remove by scrubbing with a scrub brooms (wear gloves, protect your eyes and nose and wear rubber boots and clothes that will get ruined) and mix hot, hot water (2 gallons) with a solution of inexpensive bleach (3 cups) with baking powder (the cheapest you can find; it's also called soda ash in the swimming pool industry) to potentiate the effect of the bleach (chlorine) and to make the surface's pH very alkaline (basic) and thus remove the microscopic life that would otherwise bubble up beneath the paint). Hose it off and let dry. It will ';burn'; the skin; if you get it on your skin, rinse it off with water immediately.
Once the surface is dry, apply two coats of primer, letting it dry between each coat. This sort of prevents the microscopic life from bubbling up beneath the paint and ruining the work and will extend the life of the work for viewing.
Again, I strongly recommend Latex paint because it is flexible and won't chip off or scale off but expand and contract along with the effects of water. Buy the paint in accordance with the area you live in; if you live in a country setting, be sure it contains the appropriate biocides and the appropriate latex formula for outdoor use (like for a building). And the same if you live in a warmer climate with no snow. Or, if you live in an area where you get the four seasons, buy the paint accordingly.
Note: that's the reason you do NOT use bathroom paint in the bedrooms or kitchens, because bathroom paints have biocides for the algae, fungi and other microscopic life that multiply in high humidity areas (as caused by showers). Otherwise, the person(s) sleeping in the bedroom will inhale and absorbe those biocides as he/she/they sleep and breathe.

The big yellow rubber gloves make my hands feel sweaty, and you have to disinfect them after each use which can be a pain.
The latex gloves are decent, as long as they are powder-free, but still pretty uncomfortable and expensive.

I always liked using the lambskin condoms. They are a little more expensive and do not protect against STD's, but if you are in a monogamous relationship and not at risk for STD's, I would definitely recommend them. They are latex-free and feel VERY natural.
You can find them at any major drug store, like Long's or Rite-Aid.

The 3M company makes good masking tape, but your local paint store will have its own brand as well. If your painting outside, I'd shoot for one thats relatively inexpensive.
You can also eliminate taping completely by ';cutting'; your lines with a brush. That will look better and save time and money.
